Overview

Inspection carried out on 26 October 2012

During an inspection in response to concerns

The five people spoken with told us that staff involved them in decisions about their care and treatment. One person said about staff, “they are kind." We observed medicines given to three people and saw that the nurse was patient and explained the medicines that they were giving. Medicines were handled appropriately.

Staff and people said that there were sufficient staff available throughout the day. The manager explained that she had recently reviewed the staffing level and increased the number of carers to eight. This was to respond to the increased number of people who had high dependency needs. However, the manager explained that the staffing level at night had not been reviewed. People may be at risk of not receiving the care and treatment they need as the staffing level at night had not been reviewed to ensure that sufficient staff were available to respond to people's changing levels of dependency.
