During a routine inspection

The person had been living at the home for nineteen years, it was clear that a relationship built on trust had been established. We observed interactions between the person living at the home and the registered person we saw that the person living at the home looked relaxed, well cared for and 'at home'.

The person living at the home said they felt safe and well cared for and that the provider was very kind to them. This person told us, 'I really like Mrs X they take me shopping for my food and toiletries and they are very kind to me'.

We looked at the records of this person to see how they were supported with their care, health and emotional needs. This person had a detailed plan of care in place.

We asked the person living at the home if they felt safe, they told us, Mrs X looks after me well, I am very happy and I have no concerns at all". We saw in this persons care records that the registered person had informed them of how to raise concerns to an external person if needed. Information about independent advocacy services was available to the person living at the home.

We spoke with the person living at the home to see if they had any concerns about where they lived and the provider that supported them. This person told us they were happy, that Mrs X was kind. This person told us that they had no concerns or complaints and told us 'If I had any worries I would speak with Mrs X, I am happy here'.

During a routine inspection

The person who uses the service told us that they did a lot of things for themselves. They could go out when they wanted and enjoyed having a part-time job. Sometimes they liked to stay at home and they could decide each day what they wanted to do.

The person had their own room where they could be private and keep the things that they liked to collect. They could also use the rest of the house, which was being kept clean and tidy.

The person said that they made a lot of their own meals. They liked this because they could choose what to eat and when to have it. They also enjoyed the roast dinners that were made for them about twice a week.

The person told us that they were happy with the support that they received. They said that the registered person helped them with their letters, and with their medicines and health check ups. They talked to the registered person about how to keep safe and what to do if they had a problem.

They liked to go shopping and knew the local area well because they had lived there for a long time. Sometimes they visited their family and the registered person helped them with the travelling arrangements.
