During a routine inspection

During our visit we spoke with three people who live at the home; and the friends of two people who live in the home. We also spoke to the relative of a person who lives in the home, via the telephone.

People told us that they understood the care choices available to them, and could have their views taken into account in the way their care was delivered. A person told us, 'They always ask before they help me; they ask what I would like.'

We found that people's needs were assessed, and care was planned and delivered to meet people's needs. A person told us, 'They are very gentle when they help with personal care.'

People were protected from abuse and their human rights were respected and upheld. A person told us, 'It's a very happy home. We all get on well together.'

We found that people were supported by sufficient numbers of staff with the right knowledge, experience and qualifications. A person told us, "The staff are very good."

The home had a system in place to monitor and improve the quality of care people received. The registered manager told us, "I speak to the clients every day. If they have any concerns, I usually pick it up very quickly in our day to day interactions."

The home had seven people in residence at the time of our visit. The registered manager lived in a private apartment in the home. The registered manager told us, "I'm on-site 24 hours a day; I monitor people on a daily basis. I know what is going on with people.'

We found that people's health and care needs had been assessed and they were given appropriate support by skilled staff.

Records showed that people were provided with nutritious and variable meal and choices of drinks. We saw these were available in sufficient quantities. People said they "enjoyed the food choices on offer".

We found there were enough skilled staff available to meet people's needs. Records showed that staff accessed further qualifications and training as required.
