During a routine inspection
We carried out this inspection as part of our planned schedule of inspections. There were two people living at the home who had some degree of visual impairment and have lived there for thirty and twenty three years respectively.
We arrived early and spoke with the two people who live at the home. They were very happy to talk with us and said how happy they were with the care they received. People we talked with told us about the wonderful holidays they have had to the Caribbean, Jersey and Blackpool and the famous people they have met.
We spoke with the mother of one of the people receiving a service who said she was really happy with the service and that the provider was excellent. We were told that the provider promoted independence and people we spoke with confirmed this.
We heard a two way conversation between the provider and people who live at Myrtle Cottage, which demonstrated acceptance and validation of people's views.
The registered provider who did the majority of the care was able to tell us in detail about the care and treatment needs of the people receiving the service and we noted the excellent rapport that existed between them.
