All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We considered all the evidence we had gathered under the outcomes we inspected. We

used the information to answer the five questions we always ask;

' Is the service caring?

' Is the service responsive?

' Is the service safe?

' Is the service effective?

' Is the service well led?

This is a summary of what we found:

Is the service safe?

We found that staff there were sufficient staff to meet people's needs and the manager was able to increase the amount of staff if required. People had plans in place if they needed additional support in times of crisis.

Is the service effective?

People's legal right to consent to their care and treatment was being protected though the provision of information around advocacy needed to be more detailed. The staff had a good understanding of health relating to nutrition. People who used the service confirmed that they were well supported in this.

Is the service caring?

People were cared for by warm and friendly staff who were knowledgeable about the people they cared for. Support plans were based on comprehensive assessments. People were involved in writing and reviewing their own support plans and we found evidence that indicated that people were progressing towards living more independently.

Is the service responsive?

Records confirmed that people's preferences, interests, aspirations and diverse needs had been recorded and care and support had been provided in accordance with people's wishes. People had access to activities that were important to them and had been supported to maintain relationships with their friends and relatives.

Is the service well-led?

Staff had a good understanding of the ethos of the service and quality assurance processes were in place. People who used the service and staff had been consulted with about changes and they had been listened to. The manager provided leadership and was aware of areas that required improvement.
