During an inspection looking at part of the service

There were 47 people living there on the day we visited. We spoke with eight people, spent time observing how people were supported by staff and spoke to seven staff and seven relatives. We looked at the records of four of the people living there.

We visited the home to see if improvements had been made since our last visit. We had also had some concerns shared with us about staff attitude and manual handling practice.

People told us that staff are good and nice.

Relatives told us that they were generally pleased with the care their relative gets at the home. One relative told us that they had some concerns about the care of their relative, they told the manager and it was dealt with.

We saw that the support people got with their nutritional and hydration needs could put people at risk of harm.

Two Professionals visiting the home told us that staff were busy but they work well to meet people's need.

During a routine inspection

People told us that the staff are good and kind. One person told us they worry that staff seem too busy at times.

Relatives told us that they are happy with the care their relative gets. Some relatives told us that improvements could be made to the way people's personal laundry is managed.

We saw staff taking time to sit and talk to people and they interacted well with people.

At a meal time on one unit we observed that people were left without staff supervision during this time and we were concerned about people's safety.

The home was clean but bathroom and toilet facilities need improving so that people's privacy and dignity can be maintained.

Improvements have been made to the availability of training and support for staff and further training was planned so that they have the skills and knowledge to do their job.

A new manager was appointed a few months ago and we were told about the improvements that had been made.
