During a routine inspection

On the day of our inspection we spoke with four people who were attending the clinic. All four were attending for follow up treatments or had used the clinic previously. All of the people we spoke with were happy with the treatment they had received. One person said "I'm really happy. They take care of you".

Records we looked at showed people had consented to all treatments. People we spoke with confirmed this.

People we spoke with said they had completed medical questionnaires. Written information was provided to people on how to look after themselves following surgery which included details on taking medications, eating and drinking, activities and exercise.

The clinic had relevant infection control checks in place. We saw that all areas of the clinic were clean and well maintained at the time of the inspection. A nurse had been designated the role of infection prevention and control lead. Staff had received training in infection control.

Staff working at the clinic had attended training relevant to their role. Training provided covered topics such as infection control, safeguarding, basic life support and wound management.

The provider had an effective quality assurance audit programme ensuring that the quality of service provided was monitored and relevant improvements were implemented. This included a complaints policy.

During a routine inspection

On this occasion we did not speak to people about this service. We spent time looking at recorded comments made by people that had used the service in a comments book situated in the reception area that were mainly positive.

We looked at the collated information on customer satisfaction that was very positive about the service; the majority of outcomes were very good. Records looked at were for audits completed January 2011-July 2011.
