People who used the service had care plans which outlined the areas where they needed support. The risk assessments outlined any risks associated with their care ensuring their needs were met safely. We saw in the day to day records care workers had documented the care given to the person and had commented about their wellbeing.

People using the service told us the "food was nice, they were always satisfied, family can visit anytime, they felt safe and were happy with how things are".

Since our last inspection a fire safety inspection had taken place and the provider had been given a list of recommendations to improve fire safety. This included new lighting on fire escapes, and personal evacuation plans for each person using the service. We could see the provider had addressed all actions.

We were told that most of the staff had worked at the home for several years. This provided continuity of care for people who used the service. The families we spoke with said the staff were "helpful, co-operative and friendly". The people using the service said they were "lovely" and they "liked most of them".

People told us they were very happy with the home and they felt "safe". There were comprehensive risk assessments in place which the manager reviewed regularly and the manager spent lots of time engaging with and listening to people using the service about what they wanted and needed.

We found a large well maintained property where people told us they felt well cared for and safe. The home currently has 21 single rooms across 3 floors. People and relatives we spoke to were happy with the care and support provided. We were told there were always activities going on and you joined in if you wanted to.

People told us: "The food here is good you could never loose weight". "We do a lot of activities, we are always doing something".

"I like it here they look after me well, the girls are very good they are always on hand".

Relatives told us: "My X is safe here, we looked at loads of places before coming here and just felt at home straight away. My X is always well cared for, being here has ensured she can remain active but be safe and be observed at all times which we couldn't do at home". "My X doesn't come out of his room and can be difficult but they manage him well here". "The manager is great, well all the staff are they always have time for you and will explain everything to you at a pace you understand".

We spoke with four people who lived at Glenhomes Rest Home. People told us that there were lots of activities arranged. We were told 'We go on nice trips and went to Blackpool'. Several people told us that they enjoyed going out to a weekly luncheon club, and people liked the musical activities that were arranged.

One person said she liked being able to get up whenever she liked without the staff disturbing her. Another said that they liked the fact that the home will let them do their own things.

One person said that she sometimes feels a bit depressed but speaking to the staff makes her feel better. Another person said of the staff 'They are all pretty good with me'.
