How this check was done

We reviewed all the information we hold about this provider, carried out a visit on 08/05/2011 and checked the provider's records.

Our judgement

We found compliance with this outcome area. Management of the home ensures that the aids and equipment in use is available, safe and suitable for the needs of the people using the service. Evidence should be provided that the hoists have been serviced

User experience

Other evidence

Records have been kept that show maintenance had taken place with regard to fire detection and safety equipment, portable appliances and weigh scales. Lift maintenance had taken place. There have been concerns raised about bruising occurring when a hoist to help move people who have poor mobility as used by staff. The hoist was found to be faulty and has been replaced; this appears to have solved the problem. All staff had received moving and handling training. According to a staff member, the hoists have also been checked and maintained but there was no evidence within the maintenance records.

The home does not employ a handyman. A staff member confirmed that minor repairs or for example the replacing of light bulbs is undertaken by the people carrying out the current refurbishment of the home.
