The service should have quality checking systems to manage risks and assure the health, welfare and safety of people who receive care (outcome 16)

Meeting this standard

We checked that people who use this service

  • Benefit from safe quality care, treatment and support, due to effective decision making and the management of risks to their health, welfare and safety.

How this check was done

We looked at the personal care or treatment records of people who use the service, carried out a visit on 28 February 2013, talked with people who use the service and talked with staff.

Our judgement

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.

Reasons for our judgement

People who use the service, their representatives and staff were asked for their views about their care and treatment and they were acted on. We saw minutes of meetings when people were asked what they wanted to eat, activities they wanted to participate in and if they had any comments about the care and support they received. The manager and staff said they spoke with people who use the service and their relatives regularly and said they had good working relationships with the different health professionals involved with individuals.

We saw surveys had been received from people who use the service, their relatives and health professionals involved in their care in October 2012. Comments were positive with no issues or concerns raised. The provider and staff said that if anyone raised concerns in surveys they would be addressed.

People we spoke with had not made a complaint but said that they would speak with staff or the manager and were confident they would be listened to. There had not been any complaints received in the last year.
