During a routine inspection

People confirmed that their care and treatment options were discussed with them and they were asked for their consent. One person said, 'I gave my consent to be here and I do think it is appropriate for me.'

People and their relatives spoke positively about their care. One person told us, 'I think the care is marvellous, I don't think they could do any better.' A relative told us, 'My mother is always well presented and seems well looked after. They are always very informative; any issues are reported to us.'

People we spoke with said they felt safe in the service. A relative told us, 'Mother is safe 24/7 and it was a big weight off my mind when she came here.'

There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place and people spoke positively about the staff that worked with them. One person told us, 'I have no problems at all with the staff; they are excellent.' A relative told us, 'For me, staff are one of the best things about the place. They are always friendly and the way they relate is spot on; they are always cheerful.'

People we spoke with were clear about how to make a complaint. One person told us, 'I would see the manager if I had a complaint, but I have never had one to make.' A relative told us, 'I have never had a complaint, but I would go to the manager in the first instance if I had. I got a pack which has complaints information in it. There is information about how to complain near the entrance.'

During a routine inspection

People spoke with us positively about the care they received. One person told us, 'It's all right, it's lovely. The care is all right, absolutely, they do look after us.' Another person said, 'It's a wonderful place to be.' Another person told us, 'They are looking after us very well. I give help as well. I help them to set the tables. We participate in activities and are supported to go out on activities.' Relatives confirmed that people's dignity and respect were upheld and privacy and confidentiality were maintained. A relative told us, 'My relative plays bingo and also is support to go out. I also accompany her on most days.' Another relative said, 'I'm well happy with it here. They do the care plan review every month. I'm satisfied.'

People we spoke with said they felt the home was kept clean. One person said, 'They keep everything nice and clean.'

People spoke positively about the staff that worked with them. One person told us, 'The staff are very good. If you ask them to do something they will do it. They are so very good.' Another person said, 'Staff are all right ' I'm telling you the truth.' A relative told us, 'All the staff are brilliant the way they treat you.'

One person told us, 'We complete questionnaires. The residents' meeting is very useful. They do listen to us.' Another person said, 'I haven't been yet but I would go when there is a meeting. I haven't any complaints at all.' Another person told us, 'We have opportunity to go to the resident meeting. They are very helpful.' A relative told us, 'I would attend the residents' meeting but they are not held at a convenient time for me. I can't remember doing a survey. I know about how to submit a complaint.'
