During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit there were no people receiving personal care from the domiciliary care part of the agency. However we looked at the care records relating to one person who had recently received care. We found that their wishes had been taken into account in planning and delivering their care, with the help of a relative. Risks to their health had been assessed and managed and care was delivered in a way that promoted their independence.

We looked at the documentation and records relating to the quality of care provided by the agency, including people and staff surveys, and found that people and staff were happy with the way the agency was managed. Staff felt supported and well trained in their role and people said the manager was very approachable.

We spoke with one relative who told us they were "thrilled with the care" provided by the agency. One member of staff said "they're very caring and reliable to work for. They're always there, 24 hours a day and I mean that".

During a routine inspection

We spoke with one person that was used the service. They told us that they were very happy with the service and that they found it to be very good.

We spoke with a staff member that worked at the service. They told us that they were well supported and that they really enjoyed their job. They told us 'It's very important to give people the care and attention that they like'.

We looked at records and found that people's needs were assessed and support plans put in place to ensure that they were met. We found that risk assessments had been carried out and control measures had been put in place.

We found that there was a medication policy in place and that staff received training to ensure that they were able to administer medication. We saw that medication records were filled in appropriately. We saw that surveys were sent out to request feedback about the service. We saw that the manager had taken action to address concerns that had been identified during our last inspection.

However, we had concerns as we found that staff did not receive annual appraisals.
