During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people who visited the clinic on the day of our inspection. People told us they were happy with the service they received at the clinic. They had discussed their medical history, lifestyle and eating habits with the doctor during their first visit to the clinic. Health checks were also carried out. People said that they had been given information about the medicines they were prescribed and had been warned about possible side effects. They had been given information about healthy eating and advice about the importance of exercising.

Most people we spoke to said they had been given a letter to take to their own doctor about their treatment. One person said they had not wanted their own doctor to be told.

One person said that they did not always see the same doctor in the clinic because they could not always come back on the same day and the doctor they saw depended on the day of the week they came. The clinic employs three different doctors and people may not see the same doctor at each visit. Therefore, we were concerned that the lack of recorded information may mean there was a lack of continuity and people were not monitored and reviewed appropriately.

People told us they get to see their record cards when they visit the clinic for an appointment. There was a general lack of detail recorded about conversations regarding the review of people's diet, exercise or treatment. This means there was no accurate record in relation to the care and treatment provided to people.
