During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection we spoke with the registered manager, business manager, three members of staff, four people who used the service and a relative. We also looked at documentation including care plans, staff personnel files and policies and procedures.

Overall, people told us they were happy with the care they received from staff at TLC Private Homecare Services. As part of our inspection we spoke to four people who used the service. Comments from people included; 'I like some of the staff better than others but overall I'm happy' and 'Staff make me my meals and help with domestic tasks. I'm quite happy with the service I receive' and 'They are great. No grumbles at all. The girls are smashing' and 'I feel comfortable around the staff. I have known them a while now and we are able to have a laugh and a joke along the way'.

We looked at the measures in place to safeguard people from abuse and we found there were appropriate systems to enable this.

We spoke to three members of staff to ensure they received the support required to carry out their job role effectively. We found there was an induction programme in place and staff had received relevant mandatory training which was regularly updated.

We found there were effective systems in place to monitor the quality of service provision. This was done with the use of regular spot checks, staff supervision and surveys which were sent to people who used the service.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who use the service. They told us that staff were friendly, helpful and always treated them with respect.

The people we spoke with told us they were happy with the care they received and were kept involved in the review of their care plans.

The people we spoke with told us that they had no concerns about the care they received and would speak to the owner of the service if they had any concerns or complaints.

People told us the care staff only rarely arrived late or did not arrive at the expected time. They also told us they were always contacted by the office to inform them is staff would be late.
