During an inspection in response to concerns

People spoken to said they were happy with the care provision, that staff are reliable and that they have the same carers most of the time. They said that their care is reviewed and changes made to the plan of care as necessary. People told us that they are encouraged to do what they can for themselves to maintain their independence. One person said that 'staff do more for me some days when I don't feel so well, although they do encourage me to do what I can myself. Helping me to maintain my independence when I am able'. People were confident that they staff have the skills and knowledge to provide the care they require.

During a routine inspection

People who use the service and their relatives told us they were very involved in decisions about their care and support and the resulting plan of care. Having been visited by the agency manager before receiving care people were able to express their views and talk about the care and support needed. Staff follow the agreed plan and if changes have been needed then these are discussed and the plan updated.

Everyone told us they were very happy with the care and support received, with privacy and dignity always respected. People told us that staff gave encouragement and time to allow people to do things themselves, and were not rushed by the staff. People felt staff had the skills and experience to meet their care and support needs and that they were kind and caring.

Staff prepare meals, anything from a sandwich to a cooked meal. Although most of these are ready meals heated up in the microwave or oven. Staff ask people what they want to eat and clear up afterwards leaving the kitchen clean and tidy.

People told us they were happy with the staff, felt safe, and were pleased with the standard of hygiene and cleaning. They explained that staff used disposable gloves and aprons when undertaking personal care. Staff give medication, including eye drops and applied prescribed creams.

People spoken to who had made a complaint all said they were very happy with the way the agency dealt with their concern. Their complaint was taken seriously and action taken immediately to resolve the issues raised. No one had any worries about telling the agency if they had any concerns.
