During a routine inspection

When we visited the home we met and spoke with the two people living there. We also spoke with their social workers and a relative. We spoke with three members of staff. When we spoke with people using the service they told us that they liked the home and liked the staff at the home.

We found that people's views and experiences were usually taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care. Sometimes people's individual preferences and the choices they had made were not being recorded in their care plans.

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. The environment of the home was not always homely and some files were being stored in the dining room.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

There were usually enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. We noted that at some times of day there was only one member of staff working at the home.

The provider had a system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive, but it was not yet analysing the overall quality of the service.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with one of the three people using the service, the manager, two staff members and social care professionals involved in the care of the people who use the service. The person we spoke with had limited verbal communication ability but indicated to us that liked the home including the staff and they felt safe at the home. Support workers told us that the behaviour of the individual showed staff that the person was happy with their support and living in the home. Social care professionals told us they were pleased with the progress made by the people who use the service.
