During a routine inspection
We observed that staff had well developed skills in engaging with people. This meant that people were stimulated and alert, frequently having conversation with each other and with staff. People told us they had been involved in making decisions about all aspects of their care and in the details of their care plan.
One person said, 'It's the best decision I made coming to live here. The staff have been brilliant at helping me to settle, and have gone the extra mile to make my room look nice.'
We found the service to be appropriately staffed for the needs of the people living in the home. The staff team were experienced and well trained with specialist skills in caring for people with dementia.
The home had recently had a fire and the provider and staff in the home had acted quickly to repair the damage and to minimise the impact for people living in the home. We found that procedures were correctly followed and emergency plans put into place so that all residents' were safely evacuated from the building.
