During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people at the home and they were able to tell us what it was like to live there and how the staff provided the care and support they needed. All the people we spoke with told us they were happy living at the home. Their comments included, "I am very happy here", "I could not have better. It's like home" and "The girls are brilliant." A person told us they were able to talk freely to the staff and the staff were good at listening and doing everything they could for them.

We saw a number of care documents and these recorded details about people's needs and how the staff provided care and support to them to ensure their health and well being.

A person who was receiving care and support in their room, told us the staff 'checked' up on them regularly to make sure they were alright. We saw they had a call bell within easy reach, which enabled them to call for the staff should they need their assistance. We observed the staff providing care and support, as needed.

We did not ask people directly about staff training however people told us they received good care and support from the staff. People also told us they felt comfortable with the staff and we observed this during our visit.

We found a number of incidents regarding people safety and health and welfare had not been recorded in sufficient detail and local safeguarding procedures had not been followed to ensure the ongoing protection of people at the home.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to a range of people about the home. They included, the owners, staff, people

who live at the home individually and in a group setting. We also had responses from

external agencies such as social services in order to gain a balanced overview of what

people experience.

Responses from everyone we spoke to were positive, they included from people who live at Metfield Grange, "A lovely place to live." Another said, "I felt it was right for me from the start." We spoke to social services and they responded with, "We have never had a problem, we only hear good things."

Staff spoken to had a good awareness of individual care needs and the importance of

treating people with respect and dignity. We saw evidence of this during our observations throughout the day. One person who lives at the home said, "They are always polite and helpful."

People told us that they would be comfortable in raising any concerns they may have and feel the home is run in their best interests.

As part of the review process we spoke to social services for a view of how the home

operates, and they told us they had no issues in respect of the delivery of care or any safeguarding concerns.
