During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who use services via telephone during our visit. Both people were happy with the service they were getting from the provider and that they did not have any complaints. One person told us that the staff were friendly and were understanding. They told us that staff helped them to go shopping and to meet their needs. They also told us that when they needed support from staff to buy health foods, staff were helpful in ensuring they achieved this goal. Another person told us that she knew the staff who came to look after her and was comfortable with them. They told us that if they had any complaints they felt confident and comfortable to talk to staff and resolve it with them. Both people told us that they had their support plans in their homes and were supported by staff to achieve their goals.

Staff told us that they felt supported within their job and were aware of support and supervision systems available to them. Staff were also able to discuss the training. Team leaders had a meeting with the provider training manager to discuss the year's training that was to be delivered to staff. Staff we spoke to were able to discuss care provided to people and also the provider's procedures.

During a routine inspection

We visited the office of the agency and checked the agency's complaints and compliments records. The majority of comments were positive. We noted that there were two negative comments that had been dealt with to the satisfaction of the people who had made them.

We visited two people in the home where they live with care staff from the agency who supported them. We spoke with one person who told us that they liked the place where they lived. The person explained that they signed the contract, which specified the time when they would be in the house to receive care and support in a planned and organised way. People felt that they had 'enough support'. The person told us that they were aware of their care plans and records that the agency kept in their home. They stated that they read what is written about them each day.

People were pleased with the support they received, which allowed them to take part in activities away from home. Both had been to London with staff support.

A person spoken with was extremely pleased with the support they had, allowing them to re-establish good contacts with their family.

Both people enjoyed and appreciated that their independence was promoted and encouraged.
