All Inspections

During a routine inspection

There were 41 people living at the scheme, 21 of these people received a package of personal care support, and we spoke with seven of these people. We also spoke with one of the carers, the manager and the deputy manager. We looked at the care records for five people using the service.

People told us that they had been involved in identifying the support that they wanted and were happy with the amount of care calls they had to their flat. One person said, 'I'm very happy, I have my own flat and the carers come twice a day, I'm happy with the support I get and don't need anything else at the moment'.

We saw that each person had a care plan which included details about their personal routines and preferences. One person said, 'I only need help in certain areas, the carers are very good they do things the way I like'.

People told us they felt safe in their flat and had no worries about the attitude of staff. They were confident staff would notice and act on any injuries or indications of unhappiness. One person said, 'It's good to have your own space, but nice to know they (the carers) are there'.

People told us there were enough carers to see to their needs. We saw carers had the training they needed to meet the needs of the people they supported.

People told us they were aware of the complaints system. One person said, 'They go out of their way to help you and I've never had cause to complain'.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We talked with six people who use the service, one relative and three staff employed by the service about the quality of care. They all told us the service was very good and very reliable. One person said, 'I can't fault the carers'. Another person said, 'The girls are kind, they are like our friends'. A relative said, 'You can tell how genuine the staff are by the warmth in their voices'.

We saw that everyone had a written care plan. People told us they or their relatives had been involved in agreeing their care plans. Staff were knowledgeable about people's individual care needs. One person told us, 'I know the names and faces of all the carers', and that this, "Made me feel safe".

We saw that care plans were detailed and risks to people's health and wellbeing had been considered and reviewed. Staff told us if they noticed changes in people's needs they could talk to the people, their relatives and the manager about it to make sure that care plans would be adapted appropriately.

We saw that the quality of care was continuously reviewed by the manager, both through conversations with people receiving services and by regularly monitoring the written daily records of care given against the written care plans.
