During a routine inspection

Support staff at the home are referred to as personal assistants, this title has been used within this report.

During our visit we spoke with five people who all confirmed that staff respected their wishes and that they could refuse care if they wanted to. One person said: 'If I say no, they (staff) say it's my choice.'

Two of the people we spoke with told us that they had regular discussions with staff about their care and support. We saw that one person wrote their own monthly update for staff as part of the review of their care needs and said: 'If I am not happy with something they just ask me to tell them.'

People we spoke with told us that staff kept the communal areas very clean but they were responsible for cleaning their own rooms. One person said: 'I have to clean my own flat but my personal assistants (PAs) help.'

We spoke with a senior personal assistant who told us they had been encouraged and supported by the provider to complete further training. They told us: 'Enham saw my potential, I feel valued.'

During our visit we spoke with five people who lived at William House. People we spoke with felt confident that should they need to complain they would know who to raise their concerns with.

Two registered managers are recorded on this report, the previous manager had not deregistered with CQC at the time of the inspection, therefore their name still remains on any reports until such time that this information is received.

People said they had the help they required and they were encouraged to be as independent as possible.

People told us the staff were very good at their jobs. Two people told us they had a laugh and joke with staff, they teased each other, it was done in a nice way and they enjoyed it.

One person said of the staff 'I think they are amazing'.
