During a routine inspection

This was an unannounced inspection during which we visited the service twice. During the two days we spoke with four of the people receiving treatment while we were there. One of the people we met was a member of the patient board. The unit had capacity to provide treatment for up to 65 people each week. There were three treatment sessions each day for up to 13 people at each session. The unit had 61 people who were using the service at the time we did this inspection.

We also spoke with the manager, two nurses, and the unit secretary. We also had conversations with the dietician and social worker who provided support and specialist guidance to people using the unit.

People we spoke with said that they were pleased with the care and support they received from the team at the unit. People told us that they felt safe and that the staff team were helpful, caring and competent.

The staff we spoke with were enthusiastic and positive about their work and their role in the team at the unit.

The staff we spoke with were aware of their responsibilities to report any concerns about a person's welfare and knew how to do this.

Many of the people we spoke with praised the manager for her calm and efficient approach to managing the service and for making the unit a friendly and welcoming place.
