During a routine inspection

We found people using the service had the right care and support. One person who lived in their own home told us 'I like living here' and another said 'It's good'. A relative we spoke with said they were very pleased with the care provided to their family member and said 'I'm very pleased with how they've come on'.

We saw that staff had warm relationships with people and they were respectful in their communications. We also saw that people were actively involved in discussions about their care and support. People had access to their care and support records and were able to refer to them when they wished. An external professional told us the service was excellent in ensuring that people were involved in making decisions about their care and support.

We found that medication procedures were satisfactory with one exception where a dose of one medicine had not been given. This meant the person had not received their medication as prescribed on that day.

We saw there were sufficient staff on duty to meet people's needs and that rotas were organised to ensure people who required it had one to one support.

We saw that the provider had well established quality assurance procedures that included audits of key records such as medication records and the safety of the building, regular meetings with staff, reviews of the support people using the service received and a clear complaints procedure.

During a routine inspection

We visited the agency's offices and spoke with the acting manager. We spoke with two members of staff, two visiting professionals and one relative by telephone following the visit. We had face to face discussions with three people using the service and one member of staff.

People using the service told us they liked where they were living and the support they received. One person said 'I'm happy here'. They also told us they were satisfied with the service and that they enjoyed living independently. One person said 'I like living here' and they confirmed they that they received the right support. One person told us that the service helped them to go out and to have holidays.

We found health needs were addressed and people were supported to make choices about their daily life. People we spoke with confirmed they felt safe using the service and a relative described the service as excellent.

Care records were clear and detailed but further improvements could be made by having more regular reviews of care.
