All Inspections

6 February 2013

During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection we spoke with two out of three people who were using the service. We also spoke with three members of staff, including the registered manager. We checked care plans of all the three people who use the service.

People told us they liked living at Buxton Street and told us staff treated them with dignity and respect. One person told us, "I am very happy here. I like the staff. I go out on holidays and they support me." The other person told us, "staff are very nice. I like living here. I like my room."

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard. Staff who spoke with us told us they very well supported by the management team and they thought the training opportunities were "excellent".

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive. The provider had an effective system in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people who use the service and others.
