During a routine inspection

People who lived at the home told us that they were happy living there. One person said, 'it's wonderful here and it's such a lovely atmosphere.' Staff knew people well and we saw that people were treated with respect and dignity.

We saw that care delivered was good and met the individuals assessed need. There was enough staff on duty to meet people's needs. People told us staff were very good. One person said, 'they are very hard workers, I have nothing but admiration for them.'

There was a complaints system in place. People we spoke with told us they did not have any complaints. One visitor told us 'I can always discuss concerns with any member of staff and know it will be sorted.'

During an inspection looking at part of the service

People we spoke with told us they enjoyed the food at Cumberland Court. They told us there was always a choice of meals available. One person told us they liked to have breakfast in their bedroom and there was always a choice of cereals available.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experiences of people using the service. Some of the people using the service had complex needs which meant they were not able to tell us their experiences. However, those we spoke with told us they were happy to live at the home. They told us that staff were very good and if they wanted anything they only had to ask. They told us that the food was 'pretty good'. Two people told us they would like to have more to do.

Visitors we spoke with told us they were happy with the care and treatment provided by they home. They told us they felt involved and they praised the homely feel of the home. They said it was like being part of a big family.

During an inspection in response to concerns

People told us that they were happy with the care, treatment and support they receive in Cumberland Court. They found the staff to be kind and attentive to their needs. People spoke highly of the meals provided in the home and told us they were given choices at each mealtime. Some people who we spoke to said they have access to external health care professionals as and when required. All the people spoken to said they felt safe and secure in the home. People told us the home was always clean and they liked their bedrooms and communal rooms. People were very clear how they would make a complaint if they needed to and who they would talk to. A visitor to the home said that she was very satisfied with the care, treatment and support that her relative was receiving.
