During a routine inspection

There were systems in place to make sure that any person who used the service had their right to make decisions about their support and care valued and respected. A family member of a person who used the service confirmed that their relative's choices and preferences in how they wanted to be looked after were valued.

There were effective arrangements in place to ensure that any person using the service had their support and care needs met in a safe and appropriate way. A family member described the standard and quality of their relative's care to be, 'Brilliant.'

Systems were in place to safely and appropriately support any person with their prescribed medication. At the time of our inspection there was no person requiring this type of support.

There was a sufficient number of trained and skilled members of staff to provide any person who used the service with safe and appropriate support and care.

There were systems in place which provided any person who used the service, or their representative, with opportunities to share their views and suggestions with the agency.

Records were kept up-to-date to ensure that any person who used the service was protected from unsafe and inappropriate support and care.

During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit, the service supported one person only. We were unable to speak with the person or their family.

Care plans were written in a way that promoted the individual's choice and independence. They gave clear guidance for care workers on how the care and support should be given. We noted care plans would be reviewed monthly.

Staff received appropriate professional development. We saw a sample of the training records which included mandatory health and safety, infection control, and medicines administration training. Further courses such as autism and epilepsy awareness had been provided by the organisation in order to meet the service user's specific needs.

The care records we saw included risk assessments in relation to the provision of care and peoples' home environments, showing that care and support was planned and delivered in a way that promoted the welfare of people who used the service.
