During a routine inspection

We spoke with two of the three people who were at home on the day of our visit. People we spoke with told us they were planning on moving out of the home in the near future and moving to flats within the local area. They told us they were looking forward to the move and the independence it would provide them. One person told us they had enjoyed living at Gallaghers Residential Home and that they would miss it, particularly the staff. They told us they had been looked after well by the staff and that they found the staff approachable and easy to talk to, especially when they had any worries or concerns. One person told us they could always ring the provider using their mobile phone if they wished to.

One person told us many people who lived at the home attended a range of day care facilities during the day and that in evening people attended evening clubs which had recently included going to see a pantomime.

People's needs and the support they required were comprehensively recorded within their support plans. Records showed that the service supported people to access a range of health care professionals who work with the staff of the home to monitor and promote people's health.

We found records which the service was required to keep were not in all instances accessible or up to date.

She added that she had been able to approach the manager and care staff about any problems she had and that staff had always supported her whenever she had told them she had felt unwell. All four people told us that they liked their bedrooms.
