During a routine inspection

Some of the people that use the service at Oldbury Grange have dementia and therefore not everyone was able to tell us about their experiences. To help us to understand the experiences people have we used our SOFI (Short Observational Framework for Inspection) tool. The SOFI tool allows us to spend time watching what is going on in a service and helps us to record how people spend their time, the type of support they get and whether they have positive experiences. Some people using the service were able to tell us about their experiences and we also spoke with visitors to the service and other health professionals.

Visitors spoken with were complimentary about the home, they said "they are all friendly, XX health has improved since she has been here. No problems at all", "all of the staff are friendly and approachable", "the staff are all kind, the food is good, I check, there is a choice and there is enough of it. The staff come and help out when needed".

The home was warm and clean on the day of our visit and no odours were noted. People were pleased that their rooms are cleaned regularly and that their laundry is done for them. One person said "there is no smell, the home is clean, XX is always clean. They do her laundry, I have no worries at all".
