All Inspections

19 September 2012

During a routine inspection

We visited and spoke with two people who used the services provided by Upsall Hall Learning Disability Support Service (Upsall Hall LDSS).

The people we spoke with confirmed that they had been involved in discussions about their care and support needs. They said that they were provided with the care they needed. One person said, "I am well looked after." Another person said,' I chose my wallpaper and colour scheme when my bedroom was decorated.' We saw that people were supported to make choices about their home environment.

All people visited had a copy of their care records, which also included contact information for the service along with a copy of the service user's guide and complaints procedure.

People told us they were able to make their own day to day decisions and lifestyle choices. People maintained contact with their friends and family.

There was a friendly and relaxed atmosphere between the people using the service and the staff. We observed staff interacting well with people and supporting them which had a positive impact on their wellbeing. People told us their views were taken into account in the assessment and care planning process.

All people spoken with said they were treated with dignity and respect by the staff.

We found there were appropriate arrangements in place for ensuring staff received relevant training, supervision and appraisals.

We saw there was a complaints procedure in place and this was accessible to people.
