All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We spoke with eight of the 21 people who lived at the service. People told us they were very happy with the care and services provided at St Joseph's. One person said, 'I am very happy with the care.' Another person commented, 'I am looked after very well. It's like being in your own family. The staff are attentive, friendly and patient.'

We observed people being served and helped with the main meal of the day. The care staff on duty knew what support and encouragement people needed to maintain their independence.

We spoke with four members of staff, who were on duty. We found that they had a good understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

We also gathered evidence of people's experiences of the service by looking at a selection of records. This included care records, staff recruitment, training and supervision records, and quality monitoring records. We found that care records provided care staff with adequate information to follow with regard to the delivery of care to ensure individual needs had been met. We also found that this information tended to be written in general terms. This meant that care records did not reflect the personal wishes and preferences of people with regard to how care was to be delivered

During a routine inspection

People we spoke with told us that they were happy living in the home; they said that they were well cared for by staff that were friendly and helpful.

One person said, 'They bend over backwards to give you everything that you want here'.

Another person said, 'I am very happy here, I no longer feel isolated like I did when I was at home, but I still have the freedom to do whatever I want to do'.
