All Inspections

3 June 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke to four people who used the service, two relatives and two staff members.

Relatives told us they had been consulted about the care provided to their loved ones and we found evidence of this in care plans.

People told us that staff treated them with respect. One person said 'they always listen to you' and a relative told us 'they always listen and take what I say seriously. It makes a big difference.' People said that they would feel confident to report any concerns or complaints to management.

We found that people's needs had been assessed and had been used to inform care planning. People told us "you can do what you like" and "it's nice here." There was evidence that people had been involved in group and individual activities.

People fed back positively about staff and told us they were "nice" and "very caring." We found care staff held appropriate qualifications and training and that further training had been requested.

5 October 2012

During a routine inspection

People who used the service told us they felt the care they received was "good" and that they felt "safe." People were cared for by staff who were well trained and treated people with dignity and respect. Staff were knowledgeable about the people they cared for. One person told us staff were "alright and treat me fairly."

We found the layout of the premises to be in good condition, people were able to move around unobstructed and engage with staff and socialise with each other. People who used the service had individualised rooms that reflected there cultural and religious identity.

People were risk assessed when they entered the service and we found that their files were regularly reviewed. The provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent it before it occurred.

We found the equipment the home used was properly maintained and promoted the independence of people who used the service. There was sufficient equipment to meet people's needs and ensure their safety.

Overall we found the provider was meeting the standards.

During an inspection in response to concerns

People who live at the home and their relatives indicated to us that generally they were very satisfied with their care. They spoke of the home's homely and relaxed atmosphere and the warmth of the staff. A stake holder told us that the staff have a good sense of humour and are very friendly. We were also told that people are always well kempt and cared for. One person living at the home said that the lunch was 'delicious' and another that she liked to go into the garden.

2 November 2010 and 2 November 2011

During an inspection in response to concerns

Most people at the home have dementia and short term memory loss and were not able to tell us about their experiences. One gentleman told us that the food was good. We observed people looked comfortable and relaxed with staff and appeared to relate well to them.

A relative and another visitor told us that they thought the care provided was good and two visiting professionals said the staff were caring and quite knowledgeable
