All Inspections

13 December 2013

During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection we spoke with three people who used the service and five relatives. Most of the people who spoke with us told us they were very satisfied with the quality of care and treatment offered. One relative described the service as 'phenomenal'. Another relative told us, 'I have been more than pleased with everything. They [the staff] have sat me down and explained everything." The same person told us, "if you are gonna be ill, be ill here.' One person who used the service described the service as 'first class'. Another person told us, 'on the scale from one to ten, I would give it an eight.'

We also spoke with 12 members of staff of different professions and grades, including the nominated person, the registered manager, doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants.

There were systems in place to gain and review consent from people who use the service.

People were involved in their care planning process and their care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place. There was an effective complaints system available. Comments and complaints people made were responded to appropriately.

14 February 2013

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with three people who use the service, and seven staff members. We reviewed six care plans.

People who use the service told us, 'staff listen to us', 'staff are really good, top class, they care a lot.' Another person commented, 'the food here is excellent. You get to try quite a few exotic meals.' Someone else told us, 'staff treat you as an individual with respect and dignity.'

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in-line with individual needs.

Training programmes, supervision and appraisal systems were in place to support workers, and to enable them to maintain skills and increase their knowledge to support people using the service. One staff member told us, 'the training is excellent, they ensure you are up to date.'

An effective quality checking process was in place with regular auditing of key elements of service provision.
