During a routine inspection

We did not speak to people on this occasion because there was no one using the service available to speak with us when we visited.

The practice manager showed us an analysis of patient survey results for people who had visited the practice from January to December 2012. This was based on 196 responses. When patients were asked 'When booking today's appointment how efficient did you find the procedure?' 100% of people responded by saying they were "extremely" or "very" satisfied. When asked 'When booking today's appointment how helpful/courteous did you find the administrative team?' again 100% of people responded by saying they were "extremely" or "very" satisfied.

The patient survey also asked the following questions 'During your appointment how satisfied were you that the doctor was listening to what you had to say?' and 'How satisfied were you with any advice or explanations provided by your doctor?' In each case 100% of people who responded to the question said they either "extremely" or "very" satisfied.

We looked at a sample of seven consultation and background details for people who had recently visited the practice. These showed that the service adhered to its policy on medical assessment, providing patient advice and referral to other services for treatment if required.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to one person using the service about their experience. This person had found it easy to make an appointment at a convenient time. The described the staff as approachable and friendly and the premises as clean. They said they were happy with the advice they had received from the doctor and would probably use the service again.

To obtain a more general picture of people's experience, we looked at the provider's patient survey results for 2011 which were also very positive. Fifty-five per cent of people responded that overall, they were "extremely satisfied" and 28% that they were "very satisfied" with the service. Nobody reported being "dissatisfied" with the service at Dr Kelly & Associates.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to one person using the service about their experience. This person had found it easy to make an appointment at a convenient time. He said the staff were welcoming and the doctor had explained things well. He described himself as happy with the service.

To obtain a more general picture of people's experience, we looked at the provider's patient surveys which were very positive. The practice reported that in the most recent period, January-March 2011, 89% of people, when asked about their overall satisfaction, had responded that they were either 'extremely' or 'very' satisfied. The remaining 11% had not completed the question.
