During a routine inspection

People living at the home told us that the quality of care provided to their relative was of a high standard. Regular visitors to the home told us that the care and support provided was very good and that the home communicated effectively and appropriately with them. Comments made included;

'I am really well cared for here, all the staff are lovely.'

'I have no complaints about the way I am looked after, I am very happy here.'

'The staff all help me to do the things I can't do for myself anymore.'

'The care here is excellent. My (relative) has been looked after exceptionally well and as a family we have no concerns. They (the staff) communicate really well with us.'

We also spoke with two visiting health care professionals. They told us that staff made prompt referrals to them, communicated well and listened to and acted upon advice that was given. They were of the view that people living at Wrea Bank were being suitably cared for in an environment that was clean, warm and free of bad odours.

We found that the care and support needs of people living at Wrea Bank were being met appropriately. We also found that systems were in place to keep them safe and ensure they were being supported by staff who received appropriate training and support.

During a routine inspection

People using the services at Wrea Bank said that all the staff treated them with respect and preserved their dignity (particularly when they were receiving personal care). They also said they were receiving safe and appropriate care and support and their care and support was based on them as an individual person. Three regular visitors to the home told us that in their view people living at Wrea Bank were well looked after by adequate numbers of caring and competent staff. And that staff promptly communicated to them any changes to their relative's care.
