All Inspections

18 February and 12 March 2014

During a routine inspection

We found suitable recruitment procedures were in place underpinned by a clear recruitment policy. The relevant checks were undertaken to ensure staff were suitable for the role.

We found staff were provided with an adequate level of support through a programme of annual training and regular meetings. The staff we spoke with told us that they felt well supported by the management at the provider.

We found records were adequate in detailing people's individual needs and key risks in relation to the care they received.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with 21 people who used the service or their relatives. The feedback we received was generally positive. The standard of care was described as 'excellent' and 'wonderful".

We spoke with nine members of staff who spoke positively about the provider and were able to demonstrate how they met the needs of people who used the service.

We found the provider had a robust recruitment process in place which ensured the correct checks were undertaken on people before they started work.

However, we found staff were not always provided with appropriate training in order to carry out their role. We found inconsistencies around the induction process and a lack of training for staff in some areas, such as manual handling.

We found care records were poorly organised with some information missing. This risked inappropriate care because key information was difficult to find.

17 July 2012

During a routine inspection

The service had 100 clients receiving services at the time of our inspection. We spoke with four relatives of people who use the service and five people using the service by telephone. All the people we spoke with, when asked, said they felt safe.

All comments we received were positive. People told us they were very happy with the care and service received. One person said "The service is absolutely fantastic with continuity in care". People stated that they were involved in planning the care and someone said that "The carers and manager are very nice and treat you with respect".

All people using the service and the relatives we spoke with said that the carers rarely missed calls and one person said "Telephone calls were received even if they were going to be five minutes late".
