During a routine inspection

We spoke to nine people who were living at the home at the time of our visit. People told us that the care they received was good and they felt looked after. They were able to choose how they spent their day and six of the people that we spoke to had chosen to remain in their rooms. The rooms we saw were clean, well decorated and contained people's personal items and photographs.

People had a preferred area in the communal lounges where they spent some of their time. The home employed an activities coordinator Monday to Friday. There was a notice board in the lounge that displayed the communal activities for the week. We were told that this was flexible and changed to meet the needs of people who lived at the home. We were told that at weekends there were many visitors to the home and one weekend a month there was as themed party day. We saw photos on display of previous days that the home had held. People were also supported to celebrate their birthdays and had been involved in planning their day.

We saw people being offered a choice of where there they would like to sit or play a game of bingo following lunch. Staff were attentive to people and considerate in reminding people of what they were doing and how long it would take them to meet a persons need. This meant that one person was reminded that they would be taken to their room in five minutes and was that 'alright for you?'
