During a routine inspection

The majority of people living in the home were unable to communicate with us verbally. We spent six hours observing care and interactions between staff and people who used the service. We spoke with one person who used the service, three sets of relatives and three health professionals who regularly visited the home.

Everyone told us they were happy with the level of care received at the home and nobody raised any concerns with us. The relatives said staff were quick to inform them of any significant changes in their relative's general health and they were always made to feel very welcome when they visited. People's comments included:

'She is very happy here, they meet her needs well'

'Fantastic from what I have seen so far, no concerns'

'The care is great'

We found processes were in place to ensure valid consent was gained from people who used the service.

People's needs were assessed so appropriate care could be planned and delivered. Three visiting health professionals spoke highly of the quality of care provided.

We found the provider had systems in place to ensure people were protected against abuse.

Robust recruitment procedures were in place which ensured people employed were suitable for the role.

An adequate complaints system was in place.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to the relatives of three people who live at The Flowers. They told us they had no concerns about the care and support provided. One person said 'Dad's happy; they treat him as an individual' another said 'Mum is happy and safe'. In reference to one member of staff a person living in the home said 'she is a breath of fresh air to me' and went on to explain that the staff member had really helped her to settle when she moved into The Flowers. Another visitor told us they visited at least twice a week and had never seen or heard the staff behave in a way that caused them concern. They said their relative always looked well cared for and was smartly dressed in their preferred style.
