During a routine inspection

People we spoke with told us they were happy living at the home. They all felt they were well cared for and treated respectfully. We saw that staff sought permission and checked that people were happy with how they were cared for. People who used the service told us:

'It's very good here',

'They look after me well, the staff are always jolly'.

A relative told us they had no complaints about the service, their relative was well looked after and they were satisfied with the activities that took place.

We observed that people were well cared for and treated with dignity and respect. People's needs were assessed, planned and reviewed. Staff were suitably trained, supported and supervised to care for the people who used the service.

We found that the home was clean and generally well maintained. There were a number of living areas for people to use.

We found that the provider monitored the service and gained views from people who used the service and their relatives. A complaints policy and procedure was in place and displayed.

During a routine inspection

We visited the home on 17 January 2012. We spoke with people who use the service and some relatives. They all expressed general overall satisfaction with the care and support given to them. They told us they felt involved in their care and treatment and were able to make choices in everyday living such as personal bathing routines / preferences and food choices. We were told the food and meal choices were very good. One person told us 'The food choice is excellent; there are always at least two choices at every meal'.

People who use the service and their relatives told us they felt listened to by staff and were able to contribute views on the service. They told us they were always treated with dignity and respect. They made comments such as 'It's very good here', 'I am looked after very well'. One relative told us it had been a great weight off his mind knowing that his wife was well looked after here.
