During an inspection looking at part of the service

We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experiences of people who used the service, because some of the people who used the service had complex needs which meant they were not able to tell us their experiences.

We spent an hour observing daily life within one of the lounges in the home and we spoke with three people who used the service. We spoke with staff and the manager about the care and well being of people who used the service. We also gathered evidence of people's experiences of the service by reviewing care records and quality assurance documentation.

People we spoke with during our visit were very satisfied with the care and activities within the service. They told us

'I do lots of things with my key worker such as baking and washing up. We do other activities too'.

'I cannot fault the place at all, the care is very good and the staff are lovely'.

We spoke with people about the food provided in the service, and they told us

'Staff come round and ask us what we want to eat each day. I am having the meat pie today, it's nice'.

'The food is nice, I have no complaints'.

People who used the service were satisfied with the care they received and said that they did not have to wait too long for staff to come when they needed assistance. Individuals told us

'Staff are friendly and give me help when I need it'.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We spoke with five people in the home and they told us they were happy living there and that the staff were very helpful.

One person said there had been a problem with their laundry and another said they were not aware of their care plan but were quite content. A third person said the staff were very pleasant and helpful, while a fourth said they had been assisted to get ready for the day.

People told us they got up when they wished to and liked the food, but would have liked more choice. People said they thought there wasn't a lot to do. They said they didn't handle their medication, but did not wish to. They told us they could received visitors at any time and would talk to the manager if they had any complaints.
