During an inspection looking at part of the service

This visit was to follow up on the findings from our previous inspection of 17 August 2012. The purpose of the visit was to assess if action had been taken in regards to concerns, which had been highlighted at the last inspection.

We spent time talking with people living in the home during this visit, however, their feedback didn't directly relate to all of the standards we were assessing.

People we spoke with indicated that they were happy living in the home.

We found that the provider had taken action to address the identified concerns around record keeping so that people who used the service were protected against the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with the provider, the registered manager, six people who use the service, one relative and three members of staff.

The home is registered to acommodate 13 people. There were nine people accommodated at the home, at the time of this review.

People told us that they were happy living at the home and that they liked the activities they attended.

Some of the people we spoke with were able to tell us that they liked living in the home and were happy there. One person was very proud to tell us about how independent they were, doing their own laundry and helping prepare meals. Another person showed us their diary and told us about all the activities they had done and the events that were planned. Other people just said 'Happy'.

A relative that we spoke with told us that they were very happy with the care their relative received and felt that the person's happiness was due to them feeling 'at home living here'.

One person we spoke with told us "I feel that (name) is safe living here, there are people I can talk to if I am concerned about anything."

One person told us that the staff at the home 'are second to none'. They told us that staff were welcoming, kind and friendly.
