People should be protected from abuse and staff should respect their human rights (outcome 7)

Meeting this standard

We checked that people who use this service

  • Are protected from abuse, or the risk of abuse, and their human rights are respected and upheld.

How this check was done

We reviewed all the information we hold about this provider, carried out a visit on 28/10/2011, observed how people were being cared for, talked to staff, reviewed information from stakeholders and talked to people who use services.

Our judgement

We found the service was compliant with this outcome because they had systems in place to identify and manage any potential harm.

User experience

We did not ask people about their experience of safeguarding.

Other evidence

The manager told us that there had been some incidents reported to the local council safeguarding team. We were aware of this from our records of things that providers must inform CQC about. Our own records showed that staff had acted in the best interests of the people in their care and followed the correct procedures.

The home had policies and procedures in place to show staff the action they needed to take if they suspected any person who lived at the home was at risk of harm or abuse.
