During an inspection looking at part of the service

People who use the service told us they were involved and their views were taken into account when developing the care plan and the delivery of the care and support.

People told us they were asked about their views and experience of the service. They said 'It's really lovely here, I can't fault the care, it's very good' and 'it was only yesterday when I sat with my key worker and we went though the help I needed.'

People told us staff responded to their requests promptly and assisted them when asked. They told us there were enough staff on duty and said, 'Although I can look after myself, I only need to use the buzzer and a carer is here within seconds' and 'I've always found there's a member of staff around day and night.'

People who use the service told us staff were helpful and approachable. We saw people approach the staff and the acting manager throughout our inspection; seeking assurance about aspects of their daily lives and planned events.

The majority of people who use the service are frail and require assistance with their mobility and daily personal care tasks. A number of people require prompting due to their short term memory or have diagnosis of dementia or require more assistance due to a physical disability.

People who use the service receive care and support to meet their daily care needs. People are asked about what help they need, daily routines and preferences when they move to the service and this information is used to develop their plans of care.

People are supported by staff that are trained to provide the care and support required.

People are able to receive visitors at any time. There is a hair salon that opens one day a week within the service that is well used.

People live in an environment that is well maintained, furnished and clean. Special equipment is provided to meet people's needs. Adaptations have been made to the home environment to promote people's independence.

A number of people using the service and their visiting relatives were complimentary about the service and said:

'All of them, every one of them are very nice'

'It's always clean and fresh, food is good and staff are lovely'

One visiting relative said they were 'very satisfied with the care provided'.

Another visiting relative told us that whilst they were satisfied with the standard of care, their slight concern was that their family member who likes to sit out in the garden was not taken out by staff and that they could not manage this without support.
