During a routine inspection

The people using the service who were able to tell us said that they were happy living in the home. They told us that they were encouraged to make their own decisions about their daily lifestyles and about things that were important to them. Comments included, " I am asked what I want to eat and where I want to sit " "the girls help me to choose what I want to wear each day" and " I can stay in my room if I want to."

Other comments made to us were"this is a lovely place to live" "really good, food is very nice ,staff are fabulous staff" and " it is a good place to live." Relatives spoken with said they were happy with the care provided to their relatives. " I can't fault this place it is lovely" and " it is so homely and has a great atmosphere, I am very pleased with the way they treat my relative and the rest of the family."

The people using the service and the staff members we spoke to were very positive about the home and the standard of support that people were receiving. .People spoken with said that they would tell any member of staff if they felt anything was wrong and one person said " it is lovely nothing wrong here" .They said that the owners were present in the home a lot of the time and they could speak with them .

During a routine inspection

We spoke with seven people who lived in Arlington House and two of their relatives. People told us that they knew all about the home before they went to live there. They said clear information about the staff and services had been provided prior to admission. People told us that they were able to make choices in their day to day life. For example, what time they went to bed and what they wanted to eat.

People told us that they enjoyed living in the home. Comments included "this is a lovely home" "the staff are kindness itself" "I am so pleased that I found this place, it is a happy, friendly home and I am extremely happy here" and "we have activities and interests all the time. Look at today, we have made roses and I think we are having a quiz."

People told us that they felt safe living at Arlington House. Relatives of people told us that they felt the home was a safe and secure environment in which staff looked after people "properly."

The people we talked with spoke highly of the care staff; they reported that they provided good care and had the right skills. Comments included "staff are nice and kind", "staff know what they are doing and do it well" and "they are a nice bunch of people who really care about us all."

During a routine inspection

During our visit people told us that staff respected them. They told us that they liked living at Arlington House and that the staff were 'lovely' and 'very nice.'

People told us that they were able to make choices in their day to day life. For example, what time they went to bed and what they wanted to eat.

People told us that they liked living at Arlington House. They told us that if they were not feeling well staff would always arrange for a GP to visit.

People told us that they felt safe living at Arlington House.

Relatives of people told us that the proprietor was approachable and that they felt that any concerns they raised would be dealt with appropriately.

People told us that the staff supported them 'very well' and said that 'they are smashing' and 'they are lovely'.

Relatives told us that staff were courteous.

Relatives told us that they were asked about their thoughts of the service delivered at Arlington House
