All Inspections

During a routine inspection

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent. The provider had in place a policy on consent and confidentiality. We saw that care records showed people's plan of care had been discussed and agreed with them.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that ensured people's safety and welfare. On the day of our inspection we were able to speak with two people. They told us 'It is so professional. The staff put my mind at ease' and 'There is a lovely atmosphere here, it's excellent.'

The provider had in place policies and procedures for safeguarding adults and a whistle blowing policy was in place. We saw that comprehensive safeguarding arrangements were in place. This consisted of four appointed safeguarding officers who meet on a regular basis to discuss and review cases. This helped to protect people.

Staff received appropriate professional development. People told us that they felt staff were suitably trained and had a lot of knowledge about the condition they were being treated for. One person said 'They have the answers and if they don't know something then they always go and find out and let you know.'

People were made aware of the complaints system. We saw evidence that the complaints policy was displayed in the reception area at Burton House and within the lymphoedema service information booklet that people were given. People we spoke with told us that they had no complaints about this service.
