During a routine inspection

People living at Waverley House or their representatives confirmed that people were treated with respect and their dignity was maintained. People also told us that they were satisfied with the standard of care provided and were of the opinion that staff understood their needs.

For example, comments received from two relatives included: 'The service provided to my wife is generally excellent' and 'The staff are a very caring group of people.'

Likewise, people using the service that were spoken with confirmed they were satisfied with the care and support they received. Comments received included: 'I'm quite content'; 'It's okay here. I can't grumble. The staff are nice' and 'I'm happy. I have everything I need.'

During an inspection looking at part of the service

Some people were less able to discuss their medicines due to a variety of complex needs. One person we spoke with told us that they had their medicines when they needed them and they were happy for staff to look after them.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

People spoken with informed us that they were generally treated with respect and their dignity was maintained. People also confirmed that they felt safe, had no concerns regarding the care provided and were of the opinion that staff understood their needs.

People told us that they had their medicines when they needed them. One person told us that care workers applied their creams every day but they managed their own mouthwash. However, there was no reference to any support needed to self-administer the mouthwash within their care plan.

No concerns were received from the people using the service during our visit and people reported that they had confidence in the care provided by staff.

No direct comments were received from the people using the service.

During a routine inspection

People spoken with reported that they were satisfied with the standard of care and were of the opinion that staff understood their needs. People confirmed they had confidence in the staff who provided care and support. Comments included: 'Staff understand how to help'; 'The staff are nice and look after me' and 'The routines are fairly lenient and the girls [staff] are nice people.'

People spoken with confirmed that they felt safe and had no concerns regarding the care provided. No concerns, complaints or allegations were received from the people using the service or their representatives during our visit.

People reported that they had confidence to raise any concerns with the manager or staff and informed us that they were of the view that the service would listen and respond.

During an inspection in response to concerns

We spoke to eleven people living in Waverley House during our site visit who confirmed they were generally satisfied with the service provided and that staff were kind and attentive to their needs. Other stakeholders have expressed concern regarding recruitment practice and induction training in Waverley House.
