All Inspections

27 January 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke with one relative and two people who used the service. The relative told us 'we agreed the care that my parents needed and they are more than pleased with the care they have received'. They also told us that 'when we telephone the office they respond very quickly to our requests, we think that the staff work very hard to get things right.' One person who received a service from the agency told us ' the staff always come on time so I know when they are going to come each day', they also told us 'the staff know how to treat me with dignity when they are giving me a shower or getting me dressed.

We saw three care files which showed us that people received a comprehensive assessment when they were first referred to the agency. We saw that the care plan was developed from the assessment and was relevant to the needs of the people receiving the service. We saw that person centred language was used in the care plan and reflected the persons views.

We saw that all those involved in the care, treatment and support of people who used the service had cooperated with the planning and provision of care, treatment and support.

We saw that there were effective recruitment procedures in place and there were sufficient knowledgeable and experienced staff to meet the needs of the people using the service.

We saw that the provider listened to the views of people using the service and acted upon them.

19 February 2013

During a routine inspection

At the time of the inspection Bath and Mendip Homecare were providing personal care and/or domestic assistance to 36 people. We spoke to five people who were using the service to get their views on the care provided and to one person's relative.

Everyone we spoke to was complimentary about the standard of care. One person told us "I'm very happy with it, one hundred percent". One person told us they felt the agency was "wonderful" and another person told us "they're very good, they look after me".

Everyone we spoke to knew they had a care plan and told us the care plans were used by themselves and staff to refer to daily. One person told us "I've got a care plan here, they (staff) use it every day and write notes".

People told us that staff offered them choices and one person told us "communication is great". People told us different ways that staff promoted their independence in their daily routines.

People told us they built up good relationships with staff because they received the same staff each day. When we asked people if they felt staff were well trained, people told us staff were "by and large very capable", "knowledgeable" and "good workers".

There was a clear safeguarding procedure in place and staff knew about their responsibilities in reporting abuse under this procedure.

There was a quality assurance system in place and people told us their views were listened to by the manager. One person told us "they're very good at listening to me".
