All Inspections

22 August 2013

During an inspection in response to concerns

We saw all the people living in the home and spoke with 3 of them. We observed that one of the people was making their own breakfast when we arrived, and then washed up afterwards. People were relaxed throughout our visit.

On speaking with people one person told us 'I watch the television and go out for a walk for exercise' and 'on a Friday I go to art and craft and bowling.' Another person said 'I like the watching television programmes like Jeremy Kyle and going shopping in town, we always go every week.' When we asked about meals one person told us 'We've got pork crackling on Sunday' and 'we always have a choice, whatever we like', another person said 'I had macaroni for lunch yesterday (the other person in the room) had spaghetti.'

We noted that improvements were needed in safeguarding people's finances, the fabric and upkeep of the building and staffing numbers and training. We also noted that though the medication system was operated efficiently, the policy and procedure were not detailed enough to ensure staff had appropriate back up information.

We found care plans to be personalised and covered areas where people needed support with personal care and dietary requirements. We saw these areas were risk assessed and staff were aware of people's individual needs.

9 January 2013

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We did not visit the home to perform this part of the inspection and therefore did not speak to any people using the service.

Our inspection of 4 September 2012 found that there was poor medication administration, which meant that the arrangements were not sufficiently robust to keep people safe.

We received a comprehensive action plan on 9 January 2013. We reviewed the action plan which explained how the staff have improved the areas we highlighted, to ensure compliance.

21 August 2012

During a routine inspection

There were four residents living at Ceshma House when we visited on 21 August 2012. We spoke with two residents and one member of staff and asked them for their comments about the home. We spent time in communal areas of the home observing the interaction between staff and residents and assessing the quality of support people received.

Two residents we spoke with told us they got involved in different activities and that staff supported them well.

27 January and 6 March 2012

During an inspection looking at part of the service

There were four residents living at Ceshma House when we visited on 27 February 2012. An expert by experience assisted the compliance inspector to carry out the visit. An expert by experience is someone who has personal knowledge of the area of care provided at the home to be visited. As part of this compliance review we visited the home again on 6 March 2012 to look at records and speak with staff.

The two people we spoke with told us that they were happy with the care they received from staff, and liked living at Ceshma House. One person said he was involved in many activities such as going to college, attending a day centre and watching a local football team. Another person was going out with a family member on the day of our visit to choose her own fish tank for the home.

19 December 2011

During a routine inspection

There were four residents living at the home when we visited on 19 December 2011. We spoke with two residents and two members of staff and asked them for their comments about the home. We spent time in communal areas of the home observing the interaction between staff and residents and assessing the quality of support people received.

The two residents we spoke with told us that they were happy with the care they received from staff. One resident said 'the staff help me.'
