All Inspections

4 February 2014

During a routine inspection

During our visit, we spoke with the registered manager, the nominated individual for the provider, and three members of the care team. We spoke with two people who used the service in addition to reviewing four care plans and five staff personnel files.

One person told us the carers were "confident, friendly, and helpful" and another person told us they had "never had to make a complaint".

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. As a result of our visit, the manager told us that future care plan reviews would be conducted and recorded at regular intervals.

People's health, safety and welfare was protected when more than one provider was involved in their care and treatment, or when they moved between different services. This was because the provider worked in co-operation with others.

People were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

The provider had an effective system to assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive. As a result of our visit, the manager told us that staff supervisions would be conducted and documented at regular intervals.

12 September 2012

During a routine inspection

At the time of our inspection on Thursday 12 September, Bluebird Care (Bournemouth) was providing personal care and support to 93 people living in their own homes. We visited four people who were receiving a service from Bluebird Care.

Everyone we spoke with expressed satisfaction with the service they received. They told us that care workers treated them with respect, promoted their dignity, encouraged them to be independent and provided them with all the help and care they needed. They said that the help they required was discussed and agreed with them. They told us that care workers usually arrived on time and they received their help from a regular group of staff.

Most people told us that they were contacted either by telephone or received visits from staff from the office of Bluebird Care to check if they were happy with the service they received. They also told us that they knew what to do if they were dissatisfied.

We spoke with two care workers about the training they received. They told us they received training in areas such as safeguarding vulnerable adults, person centred care and managing medication.
