All Inspections

27 January 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke with six patients who used the service. All the comments we received were positive. One patient said, 'They've been brilliant. They've listened to me and what I wanted. I've never felt they've rushed me when they come to see me.'

We were told by patients they could book appointments with their nurses to suit their needs.

One patient told us, 'The nurses are brilliant; very knowledgeable and helpful. The staff know about my care needs.'

We also spoke with two relatives of patients. One relative told us, 'The nurses have made such a difference to my relative and me. They've given us our life back.'

We saw that care plans contained relevant information about the patient and their care requirements.

We checked the training matrix and saw that most staff had completed safeguarding training. One staff member told us, 'I reported a safeguarding concern to the multi-agency team.'

We spoke with three staff members who all described the application, interview and recruitment processes they had completed before starting work. We saw that each staff member's Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance had been received before they began working for the service.

We noted that meetings had been held regularly with staff and significant events had been reported and discussed within teams to ensure learning was shared.

One relative told us, 'The service has been excellent so far; everything's absolutely fine.'
