During a routine inspection

We spoke with people living at the home and two relatives of people who live at the home. One person we spoke with said, 'I am very lucky to be here, I think it is lovely.' Another told us, 'people always have time for you.' A relative we spoke with told us, 'there is a continuity of care; staff get to know people intimately.' Another told us, 'I feel confident and reassured that my Uncle is well cared for and safe.'

We spoke with four members of staff. We observed care workers being polite towards people and speaking to them in a calm and respectful way. Care was delivered with individual needs in mind and reflected people's preferences.

We looked at four recruitment files. They contained some but not all the information required related to the recruitment of workers.

Procedures were in place to support people and their families to make complaints.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to two people using the service and their responses about the care and support they received were very positive. They felt they were treated with dignity and their privacy was respected. They felt that staff discussed their care needs with them and offered support to them in the way they wanted. They told us that they were helped to make day-to-day choices in their lives, were consulted about their views and could access a range of activities.

They felt that the home offered a choice of food, which was plentiful and very good, and that they could eat in their room if that was their choice. Staff were felt to be caring and approachable.
